ICARS SCIENCE DAY 2026 · NAIROBI, KENYA
ICARS Science Day 2026 brought together project teams from across the ICARS Africa portfolio to share lessons, exchange knowledge on implementation research, and strengthen connections across projects addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in human health, animal health and the environment.
Through project showcases, networking, knowledge exchange and interactive sessions, the event created space for teams to learn from experiences across different AMR interventions and consider how those lessons can strengthen implementation and long-term impact.

Science Day provided an opportunity for project teams to reflect on implementation experiences, share practical lessons and explore how knowledge from different projects can contribute to stronger action against AMR.
The exchange reinforced the value of connecting projects across different settings while creating opportunities to learn from the realities of implementation research.
KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE
Connecting Evidence, Experience and Implementation
Across the programme, participants engaged through project showcases, networking and interactive discussions designed to encourage the exchange of experience across the ICARS Africa portfolio.
These conversations created a practical platform for teams to consider what is working, what can be strengthened and how learning from one intervention can inform implementation in another context.
SUSTAINABLE IMPACT
Putting Sustainability into Practice
A key part of the day focused on sustainable impact, encouraging project teams to think beyond the immediate project lifecycle and consider what is needed to support longer-term impact.
Participants engaged with the newly developed Sustainable Impact Toolkit, applying selected tools to real projects and identifying practical opportunities to strengthen sustainability from the start.
The Sustainable Impact session formed part of the broader Sustainable Impact and AMR Project and provided an opportunity for participants to consider how sustainability can be integrated into AMR project implementation.
The engagement created space for learning, reflection and practical exchange around how AMR interventions can be strengthened for lasting impact.
ICARS Science Day 2026 highlighted the value of connecting learning, implementation and sustainable impact to strengthen AMR action across contexts.
